General description
The Institute for Research Organisation (IRO) was established by the Presidium of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) in 1965 as a small unit for studying the that time emerging science on science issues. Since 1980 the profile has been extended. Preserving a special, double-faced status within the Academy, the Institute's staff offers scientific and administrative services and conducts science, technology and innovation policy research. The scientific background of the research staff covers very different disciplines, e.g. economics, chemistry, physics, philosophy, sociology, communication science, biology.
